Currently I’m in Fortaleza, Brazil doing an internship placement through CIDA’s International Youth Internship Program and Niagara College. I have to admit, it’s pretty exciting stuff. I’ll be posting up a few blog posts about my encounters here, my work, frustrations (which I know there will be), achievements, and the little stuff in my Brazilian life that makes things that much special. Bem-vindo a Brasil!
Mulheres Mil (1000 Women) is a project that spans across most areas of North East Brazil through various Federal Institutes. The project in Fortaleza gives the opportunity for women coming from low-income communities (in this case, from the community of Pirambú) to improve the quality of their lives that teaches them skills needed to enter into the labour market of the tourism industry of Fortaleza. I, along with 3 other interns, are involved in helping out with this project during our stay in Brazil.
